Keeping a character consistent
Keep the same face, outfit or mascot across many images and film shots.

Each generation starts fresh, so a character described only in words will look a little different every time. The reliable fix is a reference image.
The basic method
- Create or choose a main image of your character. A clear, front-facing picture with even light works best.
- Switch to an Edit model: Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro or Nano Banana Lite. Only these accept reference photos.
- Add the main image as a reference. Open it and click Edit this image, or upload it (up to 3 photos, JPG/PNG/WebP up to 10 MB).
- Describe the new scene and say what should stay the same.
Prompt
Keep the same character from the reference: same face, same red curly hair, same green jacket. Now she is sitting in a cafe by the window, reading a book, soft afternoon light.

Tips
- Write a fixed description of the character (hair, eyes, clothes, age, style) and paste it into every prompt.
- Use the same reference every time. Chaining edits of edits can slowly drift.
- Add a second reference for something that must stay exact, like an outfit or a logo. Say which photo is for what.
- Keep the style the same. Switching from photo to anime changes more than you expect.
- Use Nano Banana Pro for faces when realism matters most.
In Tyzli Movies
On the canvas, connect one Photo or Image block with your character to every Image block that makes a key frame. Each frame then uses it as a reference. See Canvas blocks reference.
The Character highlight template (16:9) is built for this: upload a photo of a character or a pet and it builds shots around it.
When it still drifts
| Problem | Try |
|---|---|
| Face changes | Nano Banana Pro, and "keep the exact same face" in the prompt |
| Clothes change | Describe the outfit in detail, or add a photo of it |
| Style changes | Repeat the style words in every prompt |
Warning
Only use photos of real people if you have the right to. Don't create deceptive images of real people. See Content rules.
